Hear this out loudPauseEvery member of your party can activate the mirror and gain its benefits once. Every use after the first time (per character) will only give you a curse and no boon. However, Clerics of Selune (like light-path Shadowheart) will have Disadvantage when using the mirror.
If you collect the noblestalk from the bibberbang field while rescuing the mushroom picker, you can convince Shadowheart to eat it. This will partially restore her memories, and she’ll remember a childhood friend, Rennald, and suggest searching for him in Baldur’s Gate.
If you let Shadowheart kill the Nightsong, she will go full Dark Justiciar of Shar mode. Be prepared for her to be dark, brooding, and rather evil for the rest of the game. However, she will gain some powerful gear in return, the most impressive of which is the legendary weapon Shar’s Spear of Evening.
You can convince her to leave a little room for you, which will get you a minimised relationship, but you can’t fully romance Shadowheart unless you save the Nightsong. Doing this will cause her to become a Cleric of Selune, freeing her heart to find true love with your character.
It’s easy to ignore Shadowheart, but you’ll be missing out on a valuable ally in the subsequent fight if you do. She’s a strong early-game party member, as a Cleric she has strong healing magic but isn’t afraid of a fight either.
For those more invested in Shadowheart’s personal quest, giving the Noblestalk to her will likely be the best decision. While Shadowheart’s storyline progresses well either way, giving her the Noblestalk provides additional narrative weight to the quests involving her in the game’s third act.
However, from here, if you decide to not join forces with Shadowheart, she will wait in this position until you change your mind. And then, even after all of this, if you decide to take the artefact by force, Shadowheart will become hostile and you will be forced to kill her.
Once Shadowheart comes to terms with her big decision at the end of Act 2, she will learn more about her past and eventually embrace Selûne as the goddess worthy of her devotion. To reflect her newly recovered faith, Shadowheart will then change her hair color from black to silver and get rid of her bangs.
Save Nightsong – This turns the Spear of Night into Selune’s Spear of Evening and Shadowheart converts to worshipping Selune, leaving her available to romance and changing her appearance.
Once the conversation with Shadowheart is finished, head for their bedroll. An option to sleep alone or with Shadowheart will appear. If players pick Shadowheart, they will have successfully completed the main romantic scene with Shadowheart in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
At one point in the temple, you’ll come across a statue of Shar, which Shadowheart can pray to. Do not let Shadowheart pray to the statue, as doing so can make her cut off your relationship to fully devote herself to the Dark Lady.
Players that pursue the Selune route should speak with Shadowheart after exiting the Mausoleum and indicate that she is “not alone.” These fans should then wait for Shadowheart to “change her look,” tell her that they “love it” during a conversion in camp, indicate that they want to talk about their relationship, and …
Use your Illithid power to “Will the pod to open,” which will set Shadowheart free. Once Shadowheart is free, she’ll join your party whether you want her or not – at least for now. With the upcoming boss battle, she’ll be a notable asset to you.
This is undoubtedly the evil path. Of course, allowing Shadowheart to execute her parents will result in their death, but it’s much more than that. Killing Shadowheart’s parents will send them to eternal torment in the dark afterlife with Shar, forever separated from their goddess of worship.
You’re told that, if Shadowheart frees her parents, she’ll continue to suffer from her curse. Alternatively, Shadowheart can let her parents die so she can be free of Shar’s hold on her. It’s quite an emotional moment, followed by an impossible choice that must be made.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players surprised to discover that, due to elf shenanigans, Shadowheart is actually over 40 years old. Baldur’s Gate 3 – Shadowheart is HOW old?!
While Shadowheart is not a Cleric of Selûne, she can convert to her faith after Shar abandons her for sparing the Nightsong. On the other hand, she was in fact brainwashed by the Sharrans, even before she lost her memory in the mission to retrieve the artifact.
The Nightsong quest is part of Shadowheart’s quest chain in Act 2, and players can either choose to kill her or get Shadowheart to keep her alive.
In the good ending she and Yuri discover a way to prevent this, but that isn’t considered canon until after you get the ending in Shadow Hearts: Covenant that allows Yuri to travel back in time to the beginning of the previous game, equipped with the knowledge to ensure the bad ending never comes to pass.
During the early access period, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Shadowheart romance simply meant being in good standing with her, and saving the Tiefling refugees. This leads to a party back in your camp, where you and Shadowheart can have a drink. This also lets you kiss her, which advances the romance further.

It turns out Shadowheart lost her memories so she couldn’t betray Shar or her mission – which is to deliver the weapon to Baldur’s Gate. She’s unable to tell you why a wound on her hand regularly causes her pain, and she doesn’t truly remember who she is outside of worshipping Shar.
